Improving Eating Habits

Improving better eating habits can help lead to your academic success!

  1. DO NOT SKIP MEALS! This small habit can affect your daily tasks and hobbies because you need energy to do them. Missing meals can cause you to lose concentration in between your daily responsibilities and activities (ex. During your study/homework time, practice for sports). This behavior can also put you in the habit of choosing fast food or snacks that may not be the most nutritious food. This leads to the next tip..

  1. KEEP HEALTHY SNACKS AROUND. As a busy student, you may have the habit of grabbing fast food or snacks to go. Make sure you have healthy food choices around you rather than junk food, like hot cheetos or pop tarts. Have healthy snacks that are prepared for you in advance that you can just grab and take to school.

  1. CHOOSE FOOD WISELY. Do you love foods that taste salty or sweet? It is okay to eat foods like this once in awhile, but not every day. Don’t worry, you do not need to make a dramatic change to your diet plan! Adjust your diet by choosing your meals wisely through portioning the food you eat, as well as exposing yourself to variety of nutritious food options. Make your plate colorful! Include some fruits, vegetables, grains, and proteins. For example, try eating celery or apples with peanut butter, or a nutella sandwich with sliced bananas inside.
